Poll: Fewer than Three Percent of Hispanic Voters Support Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants

by Jennie Taer

Fewer than 3% of likely Hispanic voters support amnesty for illegal immigrants as they continue to overwhelm authorities stationed on the southern border, according to a poll conducted by Convention of States Action and The Trafalgar Group.

Just 2.8% of Hispanic likely voters believe that both individuals with pending asylum cases and those who entered the country illegally should be granted amnesty and eventual citizenship, according to the Tuesday poll. The findings come amid a record surge in illegal migration at the U.S.-Mexico border, where U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recorded more than 250,000 migrant encounters in December alone and more than 2.3 million in fiscal year 2022.

“While Democrats continue to pander to Hispanics and pretend they want open borders and mass illegal immigration, the data overwhelmingly shows that they, as American citizens, want illegal immigrants expelled from the country. And while it is the Biden Administration’s responsibility to secure the border and expel those trying to enter illegally–and it has utterly failed to do so for two years–the new Congress has the ability to exercise vigorous oversight and put heat on the White House. Clearly, such oversight has the strong backing of voters,” Mark Meckler, President of Convention of States, said in a statement Tuesday.

More than 78% of Hispanic likely voters support the expulsion of those who entered the country illegally, according to the poll. Meanwhile, nearly 63% of American likely voters believe that completing construction of the border wall is integral to keeping the nation safe.

More than 62% of American likely voters believe that states need to step in if the federal government fails to address the border crisis, according to the poll.

The latest poll surveyed more than 1,000 likely general election voters between Jan. 9 and Jan. 12. The margin of error was plus or minus 2.9%.

Just because these people are Hispanic doesn’t mean they are more likely to want or welcome new citizens, Hispanic or otherwise, who do not respect the Laws of the Country. The same common sense they show is something we all should practice. Recently in one State which has become home to many Muslims, I believe it was Michigan, they voted to allow a custom of animal sacrifice. When we first welcomed Muslim immigrants we were told old world customs would not be brought into America….is animal sacrifice just the beginning, will sharia law follow? What the Hispanics in the Virginia survey show is the need to be Americans, and to protect it, not make it another third world Country.
